Wukan

Wu Kan is a village in Southeast China, local officials sold land to developers without properly compensating the villagers, the village revolted against the Communist Party in December 2011. Thousands of riot police rushed Wukan, the rebel village and its 20000 people were sieged since December 14. I went to Wu Kan in the spring of 2012, about 4 months after the "Siege of Wu Kan" ended, to experience the rural life of the rebel village.
